At just nine years old, Anita, a bright and cheerful girl in Primary Three at St. Kizito Primary School in Rakai, is already dreaming big. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, her eyes light up with excitement
“I want to become a pilot,” she says with confidence.
Anita’s favorite subjects are Mathematics and Science, which she believes will help her one day achieve her dream of flying planes. She loves solving problems in class and always looks forward to new lessons from her teachers. Like many children her age, she also has a favorite meal. For Anita, nothing beats a plate of beans and posho - a simple dish that keeps her energized and smiling.
Despite her determination and enthusiasm, Anita has faced the challenges of learning on an empty stomach. Many mornings, she comes to school without breakfast, and by lunchtime, her concentration begins to fade. Yet she has never let that stop her from raising her hand in class or helping her classmates with difficult sums.
This is why Asante Children and Food Initiative’s Feeding Program is so important for Anita and children like her. Anita is one of the 50 selected beneficiaries who will now receive both breakfast and lunch at school. With regular nutritious meals, Anita will have the energy she needs to focus on her studies and continue to chase her dream of becoming a pilot.
For Anita, this feeding program is more than just food, it is hope, health, and a stepping stone to her future. With every meal, she takes another small step toward the skies she longs to reach.
At Asante Children and Food Initiative, we believe that every child deserves the chance to dream and the nourishment to achieve it. Anita’s story is a reminder that when we feed a child, we fuel not only their body but also their potential.
Together, we can help Anita and many other children soar.
